Sewer Department
The Wastewater Treatment Plant staff operates the plant, performs lab tests, handles preventative maintenance, does lift station maintenance, and collects and tests drinking water samples.
With expansion capabilities, the new plant should handle the city’s needs for sewer treatment for many years to come. Last year, almost 252 million gallons of wastewater were treated, and this consumed in excess of 3,700 pounds of chlorine and 8,000 pounds of sodium bisulfite in the process.
Lift station maintenance included replacement of pumps and using over 300 gallons of degreaser to control scum and grease buildup.
